  • The Palace Courtyard was originally the carriage entrance for the Villard Houses, built in 1882
  • The design drawings for the Villard Mansion are now housed in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC

GILT Restaurant & Bar

  • GILT restaurant is housed in the original drawing room of the Villard Mansion, boasting original artwork and period craftsmanship and design from the Gilded Age. Above the original, dark oak paneling, an original frieze dating back to 1882 is made of gold leaf mottoes that celebrate hospitality in four languages.
  • GILT's historic interior complements the revolutionary modern design of Patrick Jouin
  • GILT is a Two Michelin Star restaurant, one of only seven in New York City
  • What is now GILT Bar used to be the 'music room' of the Villard Mansion. It is a stunning example of the intricate design work of Stanford White.
  • Original John LaFarge paintings grace the large north and south arches of the room, one depicting music and the other depicting drama.
  • No other bar resides in such a historic monument (listed as a historical landmark in New York City, and recognized as a national monument by the United States of America).

The Palace's unique event spaces

  • The Madison Room was once the drawing room of the Villard Mansion. Designed by Stanford White, its walls have original panels painted by P.V. Galland and installed in 1891.
  • The Palace's unique oval-shaped Villard Ballroom is decorated with original panels depicting Marie Antoinette and members of her courtyard, all done by French artist Madeleine Le Maire in the early 1880s.
  • The Chairman's Office once belonged to the Cardinal of the Archdiocese of New York City
