Employee Spotlight: Ricky Arechiga, Director of Guest Relations

Here at The New York Palace, we are gearing up for the re-opening of The Towers lobby next week, and are excited for all the new installations and designs being finalized. With new guests checking in, our Guest Relations Director of the past six years, Ricky Arechiga, is thrilled to assist guests with all of their needs during this new chapter. We caught up with Ricky to chat with him about our new upgrades.

The New York Palace: Please take us through a typical day at The Palace.

Ricky Arechiga: My team and I take care of all requests from guests, especially from VIPs, royal families, high profile and celebrity guests. We make sure any and all requests are taken care of to exceed guests’ expectations.

The New York Palace: As The Towers reopen next week, what are some benefits to The Palace’s extended stay guests?

Ricky Arechiga: We will make sure all their requests are met and that certain amenities are provided and refreshed along the way, as well as serve as a liaison to the hotel for any questions they may have.

The New York Palace: What adjustments have been made for extended stay guests as a result of the renovations?

Ricky Arechiga: Some guests prefer the services of our maître d’ etage as they check in unpacking or ensuring that they have their  favorite selection of pillows, to specialty waters.  We make our guests that are staying for longer periods of time comfortable with all of the benefits that they would need at home.

The New York Palace: What is your favorite part of the job?

Ricky Arechiga: I enjoy speaking with our guests on a daily basis. I have always been a “talker” and now I get to do it for a living! I really enjoy listening and genuinely helping the people around me.

The New York Palace: What about the new renovations are you most excited for?

Ricky Arechiga: I’ve been hearing about the renovations for many years, and for it to finally come true and to see the results are enough excitement for me. Our guests and staff are so loyal to the property that everyone will just be eager to have more beautiful surroundings. There will be a sense of freshness and elevated luxury here.

The Palace Knows Best

We have a master Concierge staff at The Palace who is familiar with all the happenings around the Big Apple. This week our Chef Concierge Carolyn Innocenzi recommends the Museum of Modern Art, commonly known as MoMA, where you can enjoy 20th Century Masterpieces of Modern and Contemporary Art by Matisse, Picasso, and Van Gogh.

We love to send our guests to MoMA, as this treasure is within a five minute walk from the New York Palace Hotel. “I had the most delightful experience at MoMA last spring strolling through the sculpture garden,” says Innocenzi. “I felt that I was in a mystical and serene space, and I thoroughly enjoyed this quiet and beautiful time in Manhattan.”

MoMA is located on 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Guests can enjoy strolling through MoMA’s sculpture garden or shopping in the MoMA Design and Book Store. They can also enjoy a superb dining experience either in The Bar Room or the more formal dining area of The Modern. There are also some lovely café options at MOMA, including Café 2 and Terrace 5. We suggest asking our Concierge to secure a reservation for you during your stay.

Your Palace Concierge can also arrange a private tour for you at MoMA. Visitors have the option to experience the museum along with a private tour of midtown or art created specifically for their interests.

We are pleased to share with you that MoMA is now open seven days per week. Two current exhibitions that we recommend are “Rain Room” and “Artists Choice,” both on view until July 28th.

Children at The Palace

The New York Palace has a plethora of amenities for guests of all ages, including the smallest ones. As we continue our exciting renovations, we’re keeping our young jet-setters in mind.

Travelling in general can be a tedious and hectic task on the way to a relaxing vacation; however, The Palace is here to make sure it’s as seamless as possible. We are able to accommodate bundles of joy throughout the various stages of childhood.

We have many items visitors need to make their trips enjoyable with their little princes and princesses. Upon request, we have rocking chairs, strollers, car seats and other necessities that will lighten the load of packing unnecessary baby items. We also provide bathrobes for all our little visitors.

For older children, our Concierge team has a number of fun places of interest to entertain during their Palace stay. We suggest asking the Concierge for complete itineraries for the New York Transit Museum, Central Park Zoo, The American Museum of Natural History, and more.

In addition, we have babysitting services for children of all ages. Our staff is highly trained to engage and supervise children while our guests are out for business meetings or a night on the town.

Stay tuned for more updates on our renovations and how they impact young guests. We look forward to you and your little ones at The Palace.
